Quantum Hub
Deal Flow Report

December 2021
Dear Partners,

We are happy to share the December deal flow report in its new form for the new year!

You will find 4 sections to the report - Ecosystem News, Quantum Hub PoC use-case, Spotlight and Dealflow. As always, we would appreciate any feedback and questions on the focus areas, the reviewed companies, or the report’s structure.

Ecosystem News gives a glimpse of interesting events/ announcements/ investments information related to the Israeli tech ecosystem.

Quantum Hub PoC use-case shows you one example of many PoC's we execute with our partners.

Our Spotlight section highlights, and provides more information on, companies we found most interesting in the past month. We believe each of these companies has a specific spike - distinctive team, unique technology, impressive case studies, and clients or a combination - which make them stand out from the crowd.

Finally, we provide the full Deal flow of the month, including relevant companies from our focal sectors.

The Situation

Kia cars imported to Israel come with an Android-based IVI provided by Motrex. The system supports an outdated Android OS version (KitKat 4.4), due to IVI hardware limitations.

As a result, the IVI is unable to support newer versions of the apps or new apps.

What we did

  1. Talcar provided a Motrex IVI box to OVO as well as a list of APKs they wish to test the OVO solution on.

  2. OVO ported its Android client software to the Motrex IVI box and tested the OVO service on target APKs.

  3. The OVO client APK will be installed on several Kia cars so the OVO solution can be tested on target APKs in real vehicles on the go.

Expected results

Localize the in-car customer experience by offering local israeli apps (e.g. Waze, Online Radio apps, the Talcar CRM app,) on the infotainment screen and allowing these apps to be upgraded freely with no limitations.

OVO

OVO Automotive is a cloud-based app delivery platform for connected vehicles. With OVO, apps run in the cloud and are displayed on the vehicle's screen in a secure and transparent way, providing drivers and passengers with voice-activated, context-driven connected car experience.

Hydrogen energy storage

HydroX has developed a green hydrogen storage technology based on a mix of water and a material similar to baking soda-aqueous liquid. HydroX core technology is in both the catalyst and the process.

The catalyst material is made of supported palladium (or equivalent) i.e. palladium on substrate; the catalyst’s manufacturing process is HydroX proprietary knowhow.
The process of chemical charging of hydrogen on potassium bicarbonate (a baking soda-like material), converts it into a solution containing water and formate.
